this is where we will post our news, where we let you know where on the globe we are right now and show you what impresses us. And it is the place where you can impress us, share your sense of style and let us know where in the world you and your favourite whiteout & glare glasses are right now.

whiteout & glare stands for cause and effect. the name derives from two amazing meteorological lighting effects, both beautiful and dazzling. permeating light outshines the surrounding world and engulfs everything else.

whiteout & glare’s work goes beyond cause and effect, we’re outside of the white bubble as we learnt not to perceive the world around us as completed. we see the world evolving, changing and changing all over again and every mutation has a new effect and thus changes things anew. cause and effect determine one another and they are interchangeable with each other, that is why we made ‘form is fuction’ our very own tenet, boldly altering sullivan’s classic theorem ‘form ever follows function’.

whiteout & glare is all about details and materials. the pure craftsmanship of our products and the fine selection of purpose-made materials make our spectacles precious everyday favorites, down-to-earth and sturdy yet elegant and selected. our designs are almost unspectacular but at all times well refined. we don’t do voguish styles, we’re into telling stories, stories that influence our work, stories that make our designs what they are, unique and diverse. setting trends by ignoring trends altogether.

the first story ‘mountain’ told about the endeavors of ascending the mountain of becoming a brand, of developing a new product idea and seeing the whole project through. one and a half years later we rolled out ‘kaleidoscope’, our second story, where we discovered new facets of our work. in 2008 we went out to save the world, our story ‘reef’ told about the devastating situation of coral reefs all over the globe and won a couple of international awards. but the associated products never made it, because one of our vital suppliers became extinct due to evolutions on the global market. hence we decided to get to the bottom of it all and launched our fourth story ‘deepsea’ instead. 2010 we ventured into charged territories, ‘volt’ is our newest story bursting with energy and power. this also has an invigorating effect on our previous stories making ‘reef’ our next narrative about a challenging biotope. at last!

in early 2006 we initiated our venture, our different backgrounds matching up to a diverse and experienced team that became stronger with every new challenge. the core team is still a four leaf clover, with freelance artists and sales agents complementing the team.

our two award winning designers are trained and experienced engineers, thomas bischoff worked for years as a machine and tool making engineer before becoming part of the eyewear family, which gives him a profound knowledge of production processes, whereas fmhofmann worked as an architect for several years, until he turned his focus on product design, a field of work which he covers for over 15 years now. together they worked for quite a few companies in eyewear business and although most of their time is devoted to developing new stories for whiteout & glare, they up to now work as design consultants on the outside as well. danny seifert and rudi stein balance the company equilibrium on the office side, both being consultants and well-versed in the task of managing a company, they together serve as whiteout & glare’s office backbone.
